We meet beautiful couple Tylia and Rowan who are planning their wedding next year and wanted to document their engagement with a photoshoot held in the Sugar Pine Walk in Bago State Forest – with snow falling, it was certainly a romantic winter wonderland. Photography by Silk Imagery
Rowan- 25 & Tylia- 22 from Coleambally NSW first met through mutual friends when Tylia was 15 years old. 7 years on the happy couple have recently got engaged.
Tell us about the proposal? Rowan’s father proposed to Rowan’s mother on her 21st birthday. Rowan wanted to honour that in his own way so for my 21st birthday we went for a weekend away in Daylesford, the night of my birthday we were relaxing in the spa at our motel when Rowan asked me to marry him. At first, I didn’t think he was being serious but I accepted his proposal and continued with normal conversation. It didn’t feel real until I had the ring on my finger and the shock had worn off. Rowan didn’t have a ring for the official proposal as he knows I’m very picky, so he planned to take me into Melbourne the next day where we went shopping for the ring together. It didn’t take long to find the perfect one. It’s a timeless white gold ring with a 1ct solitaire diamond.
Why did you choose this location and this style of photoshoot for your engagement? I saw some photos of the location on Instagram and thought it was stunning. I always wanted something different for photos. As soon as I found out I could possibly catch snow in the photos during a winter shoot I was sold on the idea!
What was the most enjoyable part of the engagement session/memorable moments? It was just breathtaking – the whole experience, especially the ginormous trees laced with snow! The fact that it was snowing for the shoot was just amazing and of course how easy and relaxed our photographer was! Rosie has done an amazing job with our shoot! I could not be more impressed.
What influenced your decision to have an engagement shoot? How will you use the images? I mainly decided to have an engagement shoot because I wanted to incorporate some nice pictures into our save the date cards, and we didn’t have any really special ones already. I will also be using them in our home as well!
